COMMUNITY SERVER in Action
A&A Partners is a French software company that specializes in technology solutions and services for museums and art owners. Their most recent community project, ARTEO, is a new website for art dealers and art collectors to live and share their passion for art.
When A & A Partners began searching for an enterprise social platform, they had two main objectives:
- The community platform had to offer a full-featured Web services API for easy extension, and
- There needed to be a simple way to categorize art dealers’ Vitrines, or “shop windows”
With its groups functionality and extensible (REST) API, the Telligent Community Server platform served both those needs . . . and more.
arteo.com allows professionals to showcase and sell their works through Vitrines, which are set up as mini-sites within arteo.com. Each art dealer manages his own “shop,” logging individual works of art that are for sale and providing contact details. These Vitrines (or Community Server groups) give the dealer an online presence, which allows them to display their products to potential buyers. Members stay abreast of local news and events through the arteo chronicles and arteo events, which also encourage collaboration among artists, galleries, antique dealers, and collectors.
With the open and extensible Community Server API, A & A Partners was able to create the Web site using Microsoft Visual Studio for the front-end while Community Server powered the back-end.

Telligent provided the Community Server 2008.5 Enterprise license, and A & A Partners performed the implementation and theme design.
