COMMUNITY SERVER in Action
Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is the official collegiate campus ministry program under SCOBA (the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas). Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, OCF supports 270 local university chapters across the U.S. and Canada. The program provides innovative programming, including regional training, annual conferences, and domestic and international service learning projects.
The team at Orthodox Christian Fellowship realized that its target audience eats, sleeps, and breathes all things Facebook. So in addition to developing an online community presence for its chapters, OCF also wanted to create a transparent interface between Telligent Community Server and the Facebook application.
With an aggressive timeline and Facebook integration serving as key factors, the team at OCF partnered with Four Roads to implement its new community site. Within 10 weeks, Four Roads implemented Community Server blogs, discussion forums, groups, and media galleries for OCF.net and built Nexus, the first and only Facebook integration module specifically designed to integrate with Community Server! OCF community members are now able to make their community content and conversations visible on their Facebook wall and invite their Facebook friends to join them on OCF.net. Best of all, Nexus gives users a simple and hassle-free way to sign in to the OCF community using their Facebook credentials.
The initial response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. To date, OCF.net has added 220 registered users to its site!
