Youtube videos show thumbnails because the thumbnail handling is handled by youtube rather than CS. It looks like something's corrupted in the upload – notice your error states it can't find the control with ID " cs_password ? login " and the original poster has control with ID " cs_password login' " What program did you use to edit the default.aspx file to enable the installer? I'm thinking that may have confused the encoding in the file. I've attached a version of the installer default.aspx page that I've successfully enabled the installer in myself

The State Service isn't going to give any help – CS doesn't use Session State at all. Have you taken a look through the Application logs in the Event Logs. Are there any entries in that around the time IIS crashes and burns? What build of Community Server are you running ? If it's not CommunityServer 2008.5 SP2 (Build: 40407.4157) could you give upgrading to SP2 a go. Could you also give a few more details about your environment – what version of windows / iis are you on. What version

Wiki Search only works if you have installed the Enterprise Search addon, and installed Wiki Search into that – see http://dev.communityserver.com/forums/p/506130/648436.aspx#648436 for more details on the latter. The contents of private groups will only appear in search if you initiate the search from within the private group. That unfortunantly is a limitation of how search works in CS2008.

That is correct. In CS2008.5, applications in hubs are contained totaly within the hub – all actions are taken from within the hub and can be done by the hub owner – no actions require leaing the hug to enter the control panel.

ASP.Net Authorization can only control access to ASP.Net files unless you're on IIS7. This should not be an issue as no user should ever get a direct link to file contents within the /filestorage/ folder .

You are correct – they're not there. The reason for this is to make groups very easy to use. Some of the changes are also to ensure that there is more integration between applicatiosn in hubs. For example you can't specify custom widgets for a blog, forum, media gallery or wiki in a hub but you can specify custom widgets for the whole group. To restore full functionality to hub blogs you'll need to do some theme modifications. Depending on exactly what you want to do that may just involved
