Preview thumbnails for uploaded media items?

Is there a way to show the preview thumbnail for say an uploaded video? If I embed a youtube video,  I see a thumbnail which contains a snapshot from the video. Possible in CS?

Youtube videos show thumbnails because the thumbnail handling is handled by youtube rather than CS.

There are two addons available which will get thumbnails for you

  • Community Server Video Preview Module – this is a free addon that simply gets thumbnails out of uploaded video
  • Edge Convert – This converts any videos you upload into flv format so they are viewable by any viewr with flash installed.  It also generates thumbnail images for these videos.
