CS2008 Search Not Working / No Results Found

I've tried looking through the forums but can't find a solution to this.  I have CS2008 running on my local machine and everything is working fine except the search functionality.  Any term I enter results with…

"Sorry, we were unable to find any results using your search terms. Please change your search terms and try again."

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using the default Search Barrel or Enterprise Search?

I didn't install or configure anything related to search so I assume I'm using the default Search Barrel but ultimately I'm not sure.

In that case you're using the Search Barrel.

Can you have a look at the Job report and ensure that the Indexing jobs have run (by default they run every 15 minutes) – http://docswiki.communityserver.com/wikis/cs20085docs/using-job-reports.aspx .

If the next run time keeps on moving backwards then your website may be restarting too often.  The most common cause for this is setting the memory limit on the CS app pool too low in IIS.

Sorry for the delay.

Can you go to the Exception Reports in Control Panel, filter reports by type "Search No Results" and tell me what exceptions you see.

I'm having problems with Search as well. Searching for terms in my forum (Section ID 5) never returns any results.

  • The jobs are running
  • There aren't any "Search No Results" entries in the Exception Reports.
  • cs_SearchBarrel has plenty of entries from Section ID 5
  • All cs_Posts entries for Section ID 5 show IsIndexed=1
  • Section is marked as IsPublic=1, IsSearchable=1, IsActive=1

Posts in the site blog (Section ID=4) show up in the results fine. I noticed that IsPublic was set to NULL for the forums initially (not sure how that happened), but I set it to 1 and had it re-index the forums, but I'm still not getting any results.

smoothfusion are you using Enterprise Search or the default Search Barrel?
