The Films for Learning Web site highlights Community Server’s ability to integrate education and film making into schools across the globe.
FilmsforLearning.org is an online resource that provides teachers and students a place to share their own custom video resources online. With initial funding by NESTA (the National Endowment for Science Technology and Arts), the goal of the Films for Learning initiative is to inspire students, teachers and schools to learn through the creation and consumption of video resources.
The team at Films for Learning was looking for the most adaptable and appropriate solution to power its community blogs and forums. Introduced to the proven Community Server platform by Microsoft® Corporation, FilmsforLearning.org implemented the robust Community Server applications, which now provide a cross-cultural and educational resource and community for schools and pupils.
The FfL community site allows those interested in creating video to engage and collaborate on a worldwide scale. By providing blogs and forums for its students, teachers, and schools, Community Server allows teachers and students to share experiences around integrating film making into schools and education. In addition, Microsoft Silverlight™--a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web—is running the Theatre section of the Films for Learning Web site.
The team at Universal Pixel designed the skin, and the UK’s leading business intelligence consultancy (Altius Consulting) performed the implementation and integration.
“A simple to set up and amazingly flexible solution.” Dean Corney, Client Service Director, Universal Pixel
