Creating BUZZ For Your Brand With Web 2.0

Creating buzz for your brand means you let your satisfied customers do the talking.

Lots of businesses ask the question, How can I get people to evangelize my product or service? The answer is actually two-fold: first, offer a great product or service. Second, give customers an easy way to talk to other customers and potential customers. In today’s media-infused world, that “way” is the World Wide Web.

So how do you use the Web and Web 2.0 technologies to create buzz?

Be where your customers are: online!

Social networks and online communities provide a platform for individuals to share their opinions and experiences while exposing a new audience to your brand in a fresh and innovative way. If you want to know what your customers are saying about your brand, you have to hang out where they are.

Make the most of User-generated content.

Whatever the aim of your community—product support Q & A, customer experience testimonials, etc.—seed your community with those things. Give your customers examples of what is appropriate for your site, and then allow them to create the buzz for you.

Award the community Zealot (aka MVP).

Showcase your best contributors and involved community members. Remember that they are doing this out of a commitment to your brand and that their recommendations are priceless.

Position your company site as the Zenith among the competition.

Serve your customers by being the subject-matter expert for your particular product or service so that others look to you for answers. The more people propagating your content, the more customers you’ll attract. So do what you can to get the word out. Eyeballs equal answers, influence, and increased sales.
