Telligent Increases Social Productivity With Community Serverâ„¢ 2008

Newest Release Puts Emphasis On Integration and the ROI Of Social Computing

DALLAS, Texas, April 15, 2008 -- The newest version of Telligent's award-winning white-label social computing platform releases today. Community Server, a proven enterprise-ready platform, is used by Microsoft, Dell, MySpace, Electronic Arts, and other forward-thinking organizations.

Built by Telligent--a Dallas-based company with a recognized history of developing enterprise social software for some of the largest global brands--Community Server 2008 provides a robust software application built on Microsoft ASP.NET technology.

Key capabilities found in Community Server 2008:

  • Enterprise reporting and analytics to help dissect, analyze, and trend user and community behavior.
  • For developers, Community Server 2008 includes a complete Web Services (REST) API for easily integrating and extending the platform.
  • Deep integration with Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
  • Social streams that enable members to quickly see what friends or others in the community are actively contributing to.\
  • Robust media galleries for sharing content published within the community or from external sources such as YouTube, Flickr, and more.
  • Enterprise file storage that enables local storage as well as integration with services such as Amazon S3.
  • Widgets for easily sharing data between applications. (Includes widget support for Google and more).
  • On-demand groups/social circles make it simple for Intranets and even large-scale public communities to quickly form small micro-communities.
  • Community Server 2008 is one of the first software platforms to include built-in support for OpenID.
  • Community Server 2008 also includes many improvements to existing features such as multi-user blogging tools, robust message boards, and person-to-person messaging.

“In the past, companies approached social computing, such as corporate blogging, as something to check-off on a list. Organizations now want to know what they are investing in,” says Rob Howard, CEO of Telligent. “In this release, one of our big investments is analytics. Helping our customers build great social computing solutions is what we do, but what really makes us unique is helping our clients measure, analyze, and ultimately use the information to improve their products, services, or customer interactions. If your social computing platform can’t offer that, then what are you investing in?”

“This release re-emphasizes our focus on developers building on top of Community Server. Our development community has always been an important part of what we do. Whether it's publishing the source or building on top of the popular Microsoft .NET platform, we're committed to the developers that use Community Server. In this release, added a complete Web services (REST) API which provides developers an easy way to build and integrate Community Server into their existing systems," says Jason Alexander, Chief Technology Officer, Telligent.  "Our team eats, lives, and breathes enterprise social software, and we have a product and the technology that customers trust for their social computing platforms."

“Community Server enables people to communicate in a borderless network while empowering them to collaborate, capture, and share valuable content. The team at Telligent has successfully serviced more than 20,000 Community Server clients to date [since our founding in 2004], and we’re adding more each day.” Tom Edwards, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Telligent.
